Learned about Strobist

I remember when I first time learned about strobist technique, especially for Model Photography. I was invited to participate in Hunting Model with Palembang Photography Community in Kaskus. Now days we call it "Komunitas Fotografer Kaskus Regional Palembang". 

We aggreed to met in "Bukit Golf" Gas station, Gerri n Arman had arrived and waited for me. After that we headed to spot in Palembang Trade Center parking spot that Ilham was waited with four models, if i not mistaken two of them are Ratu and Brenda. I really supprised that the hunting model is so crowded because its also hunting for "Komunitas Fotografi Palembang" too, which is led by Jhony Satria. After that Septian and Indra decided to join us.

After that Ithonk up to the location, and we decided to do photoshoot in parking spot 3rd floor of Diamond . Zul,Eggy and Wisnu arrived with full equipment. Finally we started night strobist with sunset background. Before I show up my first model photoshoot, Do you know about strobist ?

Strobist is photography which uses of camera flash (OCF) to take a picture. Instead of usual pop-up flash or speelight attached on top of the camera, strobists use OCF to achieve more pleasing an more dynamic photographs. With off-camera flashes, you can experiment to achieve better results. 

Most of cameras use shutter speed 1/200, ISO 100 and aperture depending on lens for example f/8-f/11. If you want to have shallow depth of field by using a lower f-stop, so bring the aperture f/5,6.  

Last, you might want to get accessories. Not necessarily needed but it will greatly aid you in getting the perfect shot. Some examples light stands, reflectors, umbrella. If you're going to get some, consider buying a light stand an a light modifier (umbrella or softbox).

Better pictures, that's the reason most of people get into using strobist. Light is the language of photography. Without light there are no photos. With strobes, you add more light to the picture, and thus will have more control over the final product. It’s like knowing more words when writing a novel. Adding a single light can introduce drama in a picture. It can show more detail or hide some. The extra work you put into making the shot, greatly affects the output.
